One question that has left a lot of fans a little stumped is as follows – How much RAM will the Samsung Galaxy S8 have? What amount of RAM Samsung decides to opt for is going to come down to budget and space limitations within the smartphone, but we can talk a little bit about what RAM could potentially be found in the Galaxy S8.
4GB, 5GB or 6GB Samsung Galaxy S8?
How much RAM will the Galaxy S8 have out of the three numbers above? Unfortunately, we don’t know the answer to that question. What we do know is that 4GB is most likely going to be the lower limit of supported RAM in the Galaxy S8. 5GB may be seen in the S8, but it’s also possible that Samsung jump to using a more rounded 6GB.
Either way, the S8 is going to have enough internal hardware to make multitasking incredibly smooth. Not only will having multiple apps open be easy as pie for the Samsung Galaxy S8, but the additional RAM will make it easier for more apps to be on-screen at once. Overlay apps like Facebook Messenger could become more often used with a large amount of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy S8 RAM Speed
It’s expected that the RAM in the Galaxy S8 will be DDR4. The exact speed of the RAM is unknown and we won’t really know until Samsung releases the specification details themselves. When it comes to real world speeds and not just clock rates, we’re looking at seeing some of the fastest RAM we have ever seen in a smartphone.
Hopefully Sammy gives RAM just as much attention as the other areas of hardware in the Galaxy S8 because it could be great to see new multitasking opportunities open up in the near future. More RAM could also mean that operating the Edge apps at the same time as the main operating system will be a lot easier for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge to perform.
Is it Necessary?
Are these excessive amounts of RAM needed in Android smartphones? If you look at iPhones or most Windows Phones you’ll see that RAM and other internal hardware always seem a lot less extreme. There are usually more cores, higher frequencies and more RAM in Android smartphones. Unfortunately, Apple’s iOS still does a better job at using less powerful hardware to it’s very best ability – the latest hardware in the Android 2016 market will ensure that all high end smartphones can compete with the Apple 2016 lineup.
