It’s possible that the Galaxy S8 name could be something a little different. In the past many other smartphone manufacturers have adopted different names for their flagships to mix things up a little and it’s been quite a while since Samsung has kept the Galaxy S name for their most known smartphone range.
Below, we have some of the latest Samsung Galaxy S8 rumors concerning the potential new naming moniker including the Edge, Next, and the Samsung Fold.
Could the Galaxy S8 name be changed?
If Samsung stick to what they know best then the Galaxy S8 name will be what we’d expect it to be. However, Samsung could potentially choose to switch things up a little and the name of the S8 could be changed. Honestly we think it’s unlikely that Samsung will change the Galaxy S8 name to something else but it is a possibility.
What could the name be if it was changed? Firstly, we doubt Samsung would drop the ‘Galaxy’ moniker, so we’d most likely be getting a Samsung Galaxy Something. We’ve decided to get a bit creative and list some of the possible names for the Galaxy S8, and all of which have been rumored as distinct possibilities.
Samsung Galaxy Next
This could make sense as a new name for Samsung’s flagship because Samsung’s slogan for their Galaxy range usually includes the phrase, “The next big thing.” Next is short, snappy and easy to remember. On top of that, Samsung already have some history with this word thanks to their Galaxy marketing slogans. The only problem with this name is that it does sound similar to Nexus.
Samsung Galaxy Edge
What if Samsung were to drop the standard Galaxy device and only release the Edge variants? This could be a possibility for the future and as a result Samsung could result in naming their flagship the Samsung Galaxy Edge or the Galaxy E.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
If Samsung ever introduce a foldable display into one of their smartphones this could potentially be a name for it, but we doubt the Galaxy S8 will have a foldable display. It would definitely be interesting to see from Samsung though!
