Smart remote which was long discontinued since the launch of Samsung Galaxy S7 is likely to make its come back in 2019 Samsung Galaxy S10 which happens to change things for Samsung.
The 10th iteration of one of the bestselling flagship smartphones from Samsung is definitely one of the most anticipated smartphones to come out in 2019. Some of the key specs have already started rumoring. There are tech enthusiasts who still take note of the tiniest details one of which being the Smart Remote feature. What else has the Samsung Galaxy S10 got?
Samsung Galaxy S10 – Leaks and Rumours
A trio of Samsung Galaxy S10 is awaiting the 10th anniversary of the smartphone series. A cost-efficient S10 is the new entrant. The expected screen sizes are 5.8 and 6.44 for the usual variants and 6.2 inches display for the cost-effective variant. Samsung is still adamant about not having a notch is what rumors say.
Another head turner is the 5-camera setup. Probably the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus will have 3 and 2 cameras on the rear and front respectively. The regular Samsung Galaxy S10 will sport a not so fancy dual rear camera setup and a single lens for the selfies. The alleged economic Samsung Galaxy S10 should have a single lens on both sides. Another change in the body will be the fingerprint scanner on the display. The cheaper one is said to have it on the sides combined with the power button to save on the costs. Undoubtedly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or the Samsung Exynos 9820 should power the Samsung Galaxy S10 couples with 4 or 6 Gigs of memory.
Will Samsung Galaxy S10 bring back the smart remote option?
Traditionally Samsung had an IR Blaster up top on their flagship S series smartphones until the Samsung Galaxy S6. That too was not present in some country-specific models. But here in the US, we had the S6 series with the IR blaster. Not many praised it while most didn’t even notice it Samsung turned away from spending the extra dime on the smart remote option as that had no hype at all.
Eventually, when Samsung Galaxy S7 released without the smart remote option though it felt like a downgrade it was never a deal breaker and ever since Samsung never brought back the IR blaster. The convenience of scrolling through the TV screen without the hassle of finding the right remote, operating the AC with ease without reach out has gone.
Very few enthusiasts still long for the feature. Samsung has failed to evaluate the potential of the simple but notes worthy IR blaster but some Chinese brands notably Xiaomi and Huawei are still coming up with devices with IR Blaster. When Xiaomi Redmi 5A sub 100$ smartphone can house an IR blaster why not Samsung Galaxy S10. Also, Samsung is throwing in features in all aspects and if they still pay heed to their customers we can see the smart remote make its comeback.
