Samsung Galaxy S8 is in the new since the day of its launch. It is the hot topic in the market since last few weeks and the major reason behind it is the design & display.
So we are here with Samsung Galaxy S8 Camera review for you. No doubt, Samsung Galaxy S8 is a beautiful piece of design and features one of the best display in the market but there is still one thing which needs to be discussed.
While the entire smartphone world is mesmerized by the ‘Infinity Display’, users have forgot that Galaxy S8 also sports the top-class camera. Though, Samsung has not done any major change in the latest flagship and has continued with the same camera as of Galaxy S7, it has made few minor software changes.
At the very first sight you won’t see any noticeable change in the camera as it looks same on the paper except the upgrade in front camera from 5 Mo to 8 MP. However, it has improved a lot thanks to some amazing software upgrades and small tweaks.
One interesting point here is that flagships are now focusing on Dual Camera Sensor. The latest example of this is LG G6 which comes with Dual Camera Sensor. Wider Angle Camera is also gaining a lot of popularity but again Samsung didn’t pay any attention to it.
It seems like Samsung is just not ready to experiment with the camera part and it is fair enough as well. Samsung Galaxy S7 had the best camera until the launch of Google Pixel and that is the reason why Samsung decided to just play around a bit instead of flipping the entire camera part. How good is Samsung’s Single Camera, let’s check in our detailed review of Samsung Galaxy S8 Camera ?
Rear Camera: New Lens & Multi Frame Image Processor Technology
Samsung Galaxy S8 boasts of a 12 MP Rear Camera with f/1.7 lens. The image sensor has changed and now it is equipped with Optical Image Sensor and Phase Detect Auto Focus.
It still features the Dual Pixel Technology which helps in getting ultra-fast auto focus. Samsung has also added a new feature by the name of Multi Frame Image processor that takes three shots every time you click picture and then reduces the blur and stitches these three image to come up with the best possible image.
One can easily switch between front & Rear Camera by just swiping up or down on the screen.
There are no new modes. Panorama, Hyper lapse and Selective Focus Mode are still there along with the Pro mode which helps in Raw photography by manually editing the IS) and White Balance.
The best part about Galaxy S8 camera is the speed. It is super-fast and launches instantly by a simple double tap on the power key. If you are into photography you can use the Pro Mode or download free modes like Sports Shot Mode, Animated GIF Modes etc. You can have an idea about picture quality from the below samples.
There are no second thoughts on the quality of images clicked by Galaxy S8. The color saturation, sharpness is just perfect and attention to details is beyond imagination.
There are cameras in market with higher megapixels but S8’s camera is capable of giving them all a run for their money. Be it Depth of field or Macros, everything is just perfect in the camera and it even works smoothly in low light. The rear camera also allows to record 4K Videos but only for 10 minutes but that is acceptable.
Front Camera: 8 MP Shooter with Auto Focus
The term Selfie is gaining popularity day by day and is in the trend since a year. The trend has gone to such an extent that many smartphone makers have started focusing more on front cameras instead of rear camera.
There are only handful of smartphones in the market that offers auto focus in the front camera and Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the them. It sports an 8 MP front camera (a good upgrade from 5 MP which was present in the Galaxy S7) with an f/1.7 aperture. Though, it lacks image stabilization but still it delivers some excellent quality of images without losing on the color and detail.
