There will be a variety of different Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge apps at launch that make use of the curved display of the Edge. In this article we’ll be talking a little bit about the different apps that may be available. Hopefully by the end of this article you’ll have a better idea about whether the Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge would be a good choice for you or not.
Creative Concepts for Galaxy S8 Edge Apps
Because the Samsung Galaxy S8 has not yet been announced, we can’t confidently suggest what Galaxy S8 Edge apps will be available at launch. As a result, we’d instead like to discuss what different apps could be possible for the device.
Samsung could potentially turn the ‘edge’ of the Galaxy S8 Edge as an extra sidebar that could be included into all applications. This sidebar could be a space to access settings. If you were in a music player like Spotify, the sidebar could be used for pausing, adjusting the volume or skipping tracks. You could also see information about the song and artist playing.
If you were to view photos or files on your phone, the sidebar could be used to provide data about each file. When on the home screen, the sidebar could be used as a space to put your favorite apps.
What’s Expected from the Galaxy S8 Edge
Whilst the Galaxy S8 Edge will be better than the S7 Edge, Samsung’s main focus will still be the standard S8. As a result, we may still not see that much from the S8 Edge in terms of different applications. What we can expect, however, is a much better designed device that better implements the Edge into everyday use.
Not Just a Gimmick?
Will the different Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge apps end up as basic gimmicks? It’s hard to say at this point, but let’s hope Samsung comes up with something smart to truly utilize the display.
