When Will the Galaxy S8 Be Released?

November 3, 2015 | Amit Arora

In this article we aim to answer one simple question: When will the Galaxy S8 be released? We unfortunately don’t have the full details so we can’t promise an exact date, but by using some estimation we can give you a release window for the S8, and it’d be highly unlikely for the device to be released outside of this window.

Definite Release Window

Before we get into the finer details, let’s first talk about a definite release window for the Samsung Galaxy S8. If we take a look at previous Samsung releases, we can make a good estimate. Over the last few years, Samsung has repeatedly released their Samsung Galaxy flagships in the first half of the year.

A further look reveals that every Samsung Galaxy device since the Galaxy S2 has been announced in the first three months, but the most used months for announcement have been February and March.

With this information we can safely say that the S8 release window will be January to April.

Potential Release Dates

So when will the Galaxy S8 be released within the window listed above? If Samsung want to get out of the gate early, we may see a release in January, but this is unlikely. The most likely release dates for the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be at some point in March. If March doesn’t see the Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, then we may see the release get pushed back to early April. February is a possible month of release too, but it’s less likely than March or April.

Events to Keep an Eye On

Usually the Samsung Galaxy flagships are announced at some kind of event in the first quarter of the year. The first event to happen in the year is CES, but Samsung usually do not use this as a place to announce their flagship device. It could be a possible announcement event, but it’s unlikely. Mobile World Congress, which happens just over a month later, is a much more likely event for the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Even more likely is if Samsung announce their own event outside of MWC that either happens slightly before or slightly after the events of the Mobile World Congress in 2017.
