The Galaxy S8 is going to be the latest smartphone by Samsung in 2017, but it’s got a lot to go up against. In this article, we take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S8 vs the competition in 2017. There’s a lot to talk about, but we’ll gently touch on the different areas of comparison below.

Will the Samsung Galaxy S8 Stand a Chance?

Do you think the Galaxy S8 can stand a chance against other smartphones in 2017? Whilst Samsung did have a good reign in the early years of Android, things have become a lot more blurred since. Apple is managing to regain their grips of the competition and other Android manufacturers like LG and Sony are going full throttle ahead. The S8 is definitely going to be a great handset, but there’s never been a closer fight than there has with the Galaxy S8 vs the competition in 2017.

Software

Samsung has mastered their craft with TouchWiz, but they are really going to need to pull something special out of their bag in 2017. Other Android manufacturers are now offering plenty of their own exclusive software features and as a result there’s a very small gap between Samsung and other Android interfaces. We’re already hearing plenty of the new Samsung apps which will be available on all models of the GS8 including the Edge, and Edge Plus. Apple has also still got a very smart, incredibly optimized operating system sitting on the other side of the fence.

Hardware

Samsung could potentially lead the race if they manage to pull out a decent Exynos chipset in 2017. The fight between Exynos, Qualcomm and other chipset manufacturers has never been so close. In other areas of hardware, Samsung will also be going up against some difficult challenges. The camera department will be a hard area to fight for, especially considering both LG and Sony keep releasing absolutely stunning cameras for their smartphones.

So far it’s hard to say who will come out on top, but there is no doubt that 2017 will be a very interesting year for smartphone releases.
