Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Release Date June 2017, and will Remain an AT&T Exclusive

August 10, 2015 | Amit Arora

The Galaxy S Active series has become increasingly popular for those looking for just a bit more and the 2017 launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will draw even more attention. For some of the features that have been lacking in the standard S series including waterproof features and a truly rugged and durable outer-body, the Active has more than made up for.

We’re already hearing the Galaxy S8 Active will be a matter of months behind the S8 and S8 Edge with a mid-June release expected. Over the past couple of years, the official announcement has come after the standard Galaxy s model which has led up to months of speculation.

The Galaxy S8 Active release date is expected to be made official much earlier in 2017 as its believed Sammy will be looking out for the best interests of the consumer. The first sighting of the standard S8 and S8 Edge should come at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event followed shortly after by the official S8 Active announcement.

AT&T will once again be the only carrier to feature the S8 Active, and is believed to carry a similar price of the launch of the S6 and S7 Active. Those in the US can expect to shell out about $700 if looking to pay the full price, or may want to consider installment pricing on AT&T’s Next. Hopefully, similar installment prices will be in effect which will offer 20, 24, and 30 month options. Those looking for a new or renewal contract can expect to pay just $199 for a new two year contract.

The S8 Active specs could include a rugged outer-body that is expected to be lighter and more durable. Waterproof and shockproof features will be further complimented by either a UHD or 4K display along with a fingerprint scanner. The possibility is there for a retina eye scanner due to rumors on a Samsung patent filed, but we’re unsure if it’ll make its way to the 2017 S8 Active.

We’ll update you with all the details on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Active as soon as we get more info.
