While it’s not exactly official, but new leaks on the processor that will be seen in the upcoming launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 sound as close to official as we’re going to get. The Snapdragon Qualcomm 820 processor is believe to be the future of smartphone processor technology, and is expected to be featured in most premium smartphones to debut in 2016.
The Galaxy S7 is one of the many, and the first that’s rumored to be conducting on-going testing to assure there will be no overheating issues. Qualcomm has faced a lot of criticism over the past year due to the overheating issues seen in the Snapdragon 810 processor, especially with Sony smartphones released earlier this year.
Samsung is hoping rigorous testing will make sure history doesn’t repeat itself in the 2016 launch of the S7, and if the testing goes as planned we could see the start of the art chipset early next year. If the current leaks hold-true, this would make the Samsung Galaxy S7 processor the fastest on the market, and could be clocked at either 3.0 to 3.2GHz.
The blazing fast speeds will be significantly higher than the 810, and of course the overheating issues won’t be evident. Sammy has a lot riding on the concept of both the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S7 Edge Active, and S7 Edge Plus especially considering consumer expectations are at an all-time high.
Sammy is hoping the S8 Edge draws the attention seen in the S7 Edge which won best design for a smartphone during the launch at MWC earlier in the year. The official announcement for both S8 variants is expected to come at the annual event which will take place at the beginning of March 2016, and with some luck may be launched even earlier.
