Replacing the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, Could the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and S7 Edge Plus Be Waterproof

September 26, 2015 | Richard Dunn

We’ve been hearing conflicting rumors on whether we’ll see Samsung bring back the rugged, and waterproof Active variant for the Galaxy S7 despite the hopes they will. The uncertainty if all variants of the S7 including the 5.2” S7, S7 Edge, and S7 Edge Plus will feature both waterproof and shockproof features seems to be centered on replacing the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

Early rumors suggested the Galaxy S7 Active would return, and once again become an AT&T exclusive. The Active series have become very popular to those looking for high quality specs, rugged design, and the waterproof feature.

On the other hand, the lack of a waterproof feature in Samsung’s flagship hasn’t set well with consumers. Many high-end handsets integrate both waterproof and shockproof as sort of a standard feature which with what Samsung is looking to do with the upcoming S7 concept.

As of now, there’s no official word on Sammy’s intentions, but you can bet that if all variants of the S7 does feature the waterproof feature it will probably mean the end of the Active series. With declining sales seen in the S6 Active, it wouldn’t surprise us at all.

As of now, the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 Active specs include a 5.2” Super Amoled UHD display with a resolution of 3480 x 2160. We’re also hearing the S7 Active will feature Qualcomm’s 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 19MP rear camera, 7MP front camera, and expandable memory.

We’ll continue to update you on what could be the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Active or a waterproof feature in all Galaxy S7 variants. You’ll be sure to hear it first when the official announcement is made. For now, you can check out the full-preview on what we’ll see if it does launch during the summer of 2016.
